Psychologist

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: Up to 3 years

Location: Central Maryland (i.e. Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties)


We are looking for a Psychologist to provide community-based health evaluations to youth between the ages of 12 and 20, who are alleged or adjudicated offenders and reside in the Central Region of Maryland. Services to be provided include psychological evaluations and psychological consultations.


The Contractor must be available to receive referrals, conduct evaluations and answer questions from Maryland Department of Juvenile Services staff Monday through Friday for at least eight (8) hours per day. Five (5) out of the eight (5) hours per day must be consecutive hours between the times of 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Weekend hours may be arranged, if needed. 


The ideal candidate must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Possess a current license to practice psychology in the State of Maryland;
  2. Be in good standing with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists; 
  3. Have at least two (2) years post-doctoral experience evaluating troubled adolescents; and,
  4. Understanding of the Maryland Juvenile Services system.

Case Manager

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: Up to 4 years
Location: Charles County, Maryland


​We are looking for Case Manager to provide services for families who meet the criteria of being pregnant and/or postpartum woman in Charles County and have been identified as having moderate risk factors.


The candidate must be able to perform home visits to all pregnant and postpartum Charles County women and their families who identify as having moderate risk factors that may predispose their children to poor outcomes, or those who are considered high-risk pregnancies. Therese services will be initiated prenatally or at birth. The expectation is to use a standardized (i.e. in a consistent way for all families) assessment tool to systematically identify families who are most in need of services. This tool should assess the presence of various factors associates with increased risk for child maltreatment or other poor childhood outcomes (i.e. social isolation, substance abuse, parental history of abuse in childhood). Home visits must focus education on nutrition, prenatal care, stress management, problem-solving, and risk factors for pre-term labor and prematurity. 


The ideal candidate will be able to use the Parents as Teachers Curriculum, Parent Education and Support Groups. Community resource information will be provided to address family needs; address any concerns with bonding and attachment or the child’s social/emotional development. Some training will be provided and mandated to carry out the duties associated with this contract. 


Key attributes of the most successful candidates include: (a) experience working with culturally diverse communities and (b) having a framework, based on education or experience, for handling the variety of situations they may encounter when working at-risk families. 


The following qualifications are sought:

  1. BSW or BA/BS in a human service related field. Masters preferred.
  2. Two years prior experience in child welfare and/or life skills. 
  3. Prior field experience in working with multi-problem families in a home setting. 
  4. Demonstration of strong engagement skills and a thorough understanding of the strength based approach and interventions. 
  5. Willingness to maintain flexible working hours including nights, weekends and holidays. 
  6. Demonstrate excellent assessment and crisis intervention skills.
